Novotel, normally visited for Sampan the chinese restaurant had a Street Food Festival going on, that my wife and daughter wanted to visit over the weekend but somehow could not be managed. Mid week it was and off we went (coordinating their schedules is a full time activity for me).

Decided to take a look, since the restaurant appeared empty, found the layout of live stations quite interesting so selected a table and sat, but the table and chairs were wobbly (they seriously need to upgrade the furniture) so shifted and waited for the daughter to join.

They had a large range of starters and main other than the regular buffet which was included in the price.

We began with corn chaat – quite nice; Kheema naan – the kheema was excellent with very little oil and the Naan was made out of bread, talking to the cook I asked him, if he would make a sandwich the muslim way for me. Nothing unique about it – The bread is cut into two, toasted over the tava/bhatta green chutney, phudina and onions with kheema stuffed into it. Lovely. This was followed by John Roti – thin roti stuffed with chicken/veg/paneer.

They had ragda pattice and pani puri, the former was excellent whilst the pani puri barely passed muster.

Lemon, Black currant shots to clean the palate followed by South Indian which was pretty amazing and repeated.

This was followed by chicken salad in a shot glass, kebabs, soup, rice and finally desserts – freshly made immarti and ice cream.

After quite a long time, liked a buffet and particularly Novotel food. There is definitely an improvement there.
