Hola Chef – Another food app. Another technology disruption app.
Had heard about it and found Dharmesh recommending it and decided to give it a whirl.
The first two orders worked well, food was pretty good, delivered on time. A likelihood of delay was communicated etc. so I thought it would be a good option given that we need to order for elderly parent when we are stuck at work or traffic.
Boom – Spoke too soon. This Friday ordered a meal for my mother, expecting it to be delivered at 12.30 pm. No sign so tried calling up, the nos gets disconnected after one ring. Tweeted and the response was prompt asking for order nos. I had the payment id nos because no text from HolaChef received. I was told that it had been delivered and money collected whereas I had paid online.
Organised from my reliable Shetty who delivered in less than 10 minutes to ensure that the temper and hunger at home was satiated.
According to HolaChef – The order was somebody else with similar name, number is wrong, we will check etc. the same rigmarole of scrambling around. BUT to be fair they refunded the money first and immediately.
Hits – New menu, mostly good food & service, online payment.
Misses – 1/3 screwup is 33%, cross check and verification sms or notification should be consumer friendly. As should the process be.
