Lord of the Drinks  or LOTD a take on popular Harry Potter opened recently on New Link Road, Andheri which is fast gaining the reputation of party place, second to none.

A quick meeting one morning with Komal and a trial cocktail, took a few of us wandering that evening to check out the place, a couple of butter beers which are supposed to be the highest sellers and we left.

A week later Komal  invited us for a trial brunch on a Sunday.  It was just the second sunday since they introduced brunch and we landed up – a table of four – two veg and two non veg & two drinkers and two non drinkers.

Chef JJ aka Jehangir was there along with the Asst Manager Sanjeev who asked us if we wished to order off the menu or brunch. Given the fact that we wanted to try the brunch, we opted for that accompanied by some cocktails suggested by the chef.

Having been there twice 🙂 took the liberty of ordering what I liked

Cocktails:

Rosemary Blueberry Old Fashioned ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️ This was the best, with the ideal mix which did not overpower the alcohol.

Mint Papaya Rita⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️ This was the third time and has proven to be consistent every single time. Must have

Butter Beer⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️ Their best seller; however I am not a great beer fan

Melon Twist⚡️⚡️⚡️ Quite nice, but the melon was too strong, also quite large, best shared.

Mocktails – Gauva and Orange Cooler – Both were as good or bad as can be.

We gave Soups and Salad and the bread platter a curious glance and just flicked a couple of pieces but had the starters on the table.

Starters

Non Veg

Lasooni Chicken Tikka ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️ – quite nice, but nothing new about it, however the lasooni taste was sharp, the way I like it and would not mind trying it again.

BBQ Chicken Pizza⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️ – definitely worth a shot and a good munch with drinks.

Thai chicken fiery balls ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️ – freshly made and just perfect, though not as fiery as I would like it, they were excellent.

We gave the chicken club sandwich a miss.

Amritsari fish and chips ⚡️⚡️⚡️ – Basa, so didn’t work for me at all.

Veg

Churmura chaat ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️ chakna kind, perfect accompaniment to the beer.

Curried mushroom ⚡️⚡️⚡️ quite nice, but the table was not a mushroom fan.

Corn mushroom tart shells ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️ these were brilliantly made and worked perfectly for us.

Sweet potato chilli fries ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️ lovely, with just the right spice, polished off in double quick style by just one person on the table.

Chilly paneer pizza ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️  thin crust and piping hot. What’s not to like.

The mains were the regular stuff of veg, non veg and good enough, but we focussed on the biryani, raita because we were stuffed with the starters.

The biryani was very good, but the dal was quite a surprise and went well with rice. A must try.

Desserts

The usual suspects, not really up my alley – in any case I am not a dessert person, but yes overall it needs work. Even maybe just ice cream options. Bakery does not seem to be up to the mark.

Overall a lovely way to spend couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon, stuff yourselves with starters with a cocktail or two, give mains a miss if you like but a super value for money.
