High Point - Lokhandwala, Andheri

Posted in Restaurant; Hotels; Food |

Shop No 1-2, Citizen, Lokhandwala Complex, Lokhandwala, Andheri (W), Mumbai

Lokhandwala Landmark

A Landmark of sorts in Lokhandwala Market. Covering South Indian, Fast Food of all Sorts, Punjabi Cuisine, Chinese Cuisine, Beverages ( Fresh Fruit Juice and Milk Shakes ), Ice Creams and Kulfi (Pista is Yum). Personally , i enjoy their Hot Dog, Pav Bhaji , and Dahi Batata Puri. Have seen it constantly reinvent itself to meet the needs. The hot dog fight against subway, the pizza fight against Dominos & gang, ensure that its loyal clientèles returns!

Kailash Parbat

Not as great as the Colaba one. But the Pani Puri’s are the same served with chilled mineral water. The aloo tuk, dahi vada are to die for. You can always round it off with sweets, gulab jamun with kulfi…..

Hotel Radhakrishna

Posted in Restaurant; Hotels; Food |

Opposite Shopper’s Stop, SV Road, Andheri (W), Mumbai

Find both radha, krishna

A small place 25 years ago, now has half the ground floor, with out door seating, indoor AC & another restaurant called golden chariot serving liqour at the back.

Good south indian & punjabi stuff. Tried their nachos a couple of months back, ok. Quick service inside.

The outside is mainly the shoppers stop staff during the day.

Try their bread butter (thick yummy slices) & strong tea in a glass during the monsoons.

Chaat 5th 6th NS Road Juhu

Posted in Restaurant; Hotels; Food |

A personal favorite since the time I studied in Jamnabai, though that time the location was a little different with a cart. Now the brothers/relatives man this.

During the past half decade or so, since the time Sharmaji @ Sahakari Bhandar has started getting crowded what with Parking problems etc. & Empire at Irla having its share of problems, I introduced my chaat crazy family & friends back to this place.

It provides more or less the same array of chaat - Bhel puri; Sev Puri; Dahi Puri; Pani Puri with its own twist & taste to match what you want to eat. Burrp Award Winner for sure:)

Name Sake

Once an institution by itself, has gone to the dogs……only the location with theatres & offices surrounding keep it going. The prices do not match the quality or the ambiance at all.

Shreejee’s Veg Wonders

Posted in Restaurant; Hotels; Food |

24, MHADA Commercial Complex, Opposite Tarapore Gardens, Oshiwara, Andheri (W), Mumbai

Gujju Shetty

Started small, expanded, caters to almost entire oshiwara belt. His south indian has a tinge of gujju sweetness but chana masala, paneer masala & other punjabi stuff is great.

Delivers piping hot & always friend anna’s around…even with the owner a gujju.

Remember you can never run a restaurant without a manager or waiter who is a shetty, malyalee because manpower supply becomes a problem.

Everything has already been said! From a small lorry, he has grown it to 3 levels; But my personal favorite is not to sit inside, but to begin with a plate of pani puri (standing & slurping away) followed by ragda pattice or sev dahi puri; rava sada; ganne ka juice & carry away the awesome kesar pista kulfi…..(Makes one sound like a hog, but the wife also shares some of this)Jai Sai deva
