Firangi Paani

Posted in Restaurant; Hotels; Food |

Fun Republic, Level 3, Opposite Laxmi Industrial Estate, Andheri (W), Mumbai

Frangi ho ya Firangi

One of those places where the wife managed to visit first & give the signal…..Some friends had overseas visitors & all of them decided to celebrate.

Guess they took pity on me, at home with a torn ligament, sent the passat over to pick me up in style. Getting down, was mistaken by two ladies for a singer……accompanied to the level 3, where the greeter & chini mini threw some attitude, but Luck favors….the manager of the place, an old sun n sand friend whisked me & the ladies right in. Bid them good bye & sat with boys & girls to have a time…

Tried out a variety of starters all of them uniformly good, however the sauces, dips were severely lacking, had to constantly ask for refills.

After a gala time, demolishing a couple of bottles of fancy wine(don’t ask the names); whiskey, tequila & what have you, paid(this is one amount that will be imprinted) but WTF someone else’s entertainment bill….however luckily, checked the total…& lo there was a service charge quietly tucked in, so did restrain ourselves on the tip factor.

Overall a good place, where would definitely visit again, but the loud music puts you off, the mix of music does not go with the decor, service needs to be brushed up, particularly on a tuesday.

Will check it out when a buddy Keith vegas plays there.

Infiniti Mall, 2nd Floor, New Link Road, Oshiwara, Andheri (W), Mumbai

Nope maybe on a monday

Angrez chale gaye, inko chodd gaye.

Okay place, with too loud music, suddenly hovering over to take order when you are not ready & then disappearing till god knows when.

Had a warm discussion regarding my wearing a shorts…don’t know what is their problem when my wife does not mind….

Ok if you want to have a drink whilst waiting to go for a movie

All Sports Bar

Dream Plaza, C-18/21 Dalia Estate, off New Link Road, Andheri (W), Mumbai

Sports!

Good place, been there twice, once with the boys & another for a friend’s son 18th birthday party.

Good friendly service, excellent finger food, though the dinner menu could have been much better.

Ambiance is pretty good & the place pumps up the blood when there is sports on the screen….

A Landmark of sorts in Lokhandwala Market. Covering South Indian, Fast Food of all Sorts, Punjabi Cuisine, Chinese Cuisine, Beverages ( Fresh Fruit Juice and Milk Shakes ), Ice Creams and Kulfi (Pista is Yum). Personally , i enjoy their Hot Dog, Pav Bhaji , and Dahi Batata Puri. Have seen it constantly reinvent itself to meet the needs. The hot dog fight against subway, the pizza fight against Dominos & gang, ensure that its loyal clientèles returns!

Bang opp the vile parle station on the east side. On the ground floor you have ramakrishna serving udipi specialties. Shabri is your homely shetty providing everything under one roof. Wines, spritzers, liqour, veg, non veg, indian, chinese, continental, so on and so forth. Reasonably good stuff. Convenient & definitely worth a visit. Whilst families do visit the place in abundance, got kicked by mine when I took them there!!

A personal favorite to sit down instead of the car service of Amar. The Dosas & pav bhaji are great & served extremely hot even at 12.30 in the night. The service extremely cordial & swift. Surprisingly the chats also turned out to be good when we tried them a couple of weeks back!

Lovely place, prefer the outside. Very limited range of starters, particularly so when you are entertaining out of town, country visitors on their way to the airport. Great service; but in spite of constant feedback of soggy papads; cheeslings; nothing has changed. Prefer to give it a miss these days

A chain of them but not all of them are good. However this is excellent for its pav bhaji; south indian & veg hot dog. The masala pav (both the current & 1999) are worth a try. Recently I have seen people ordering punjabi & chinese…going by which it must be good, but Not ME…Here it has to be idli sambhar, followed by Rava Sada & Pav Bhaji(shared:)) Service friendly, on the road, parking not an issue, a must visit at least once a month.

Was one of its first & consistent customers till a year back. And the eclectic mixture of food, music & drinks kept pulling us back. The indian, chinese, thai, italian mix particularly the new inventions that were always tried out on regulars like us was super. Kishore had & has a good thing going. Definitely worth a visit particularly since now you can wait downstairs, have a coffee & then go up with your guests or vice versa.
