Cafe Indilite

Posted in Restaurant; Hotels; Food |

Having read about this & seen it passing by, decided to try it out on a Saturday night.

Since it has recently opened, there were very few tables occupied - mainly family, filmy crowd enjoying themselves.

Loved the decor, wide open space between tables so no eavesdropping. AC working fine. Neat clothes, good crockery.

Decided to try an item each from all types.

Started with Chaat…Nope sorry, they have discontinued it.

Garlic Bread in Chinese - oh we do not have italian so we put it here. OK not even passable….slice of wibbs bread toasted & grated garlic. 0/5

Margherita Pizza - Very good in taste, just the right amount of cheese. 3.5/5 because there was no chilli flakes or chilli sauce & need to upgrade the ketchup also.

Sada Dosa - Very nice. good taste, option of 3 chutneys all of them good (coconut, garlic & mint) Sambhar was pretty nice too. 4.5/5

Chole Bhature - Very good. Chole were extremely nice, but lime had to be asked for & should have been piping hot. The Bhature could have been less oily/patted dry but the taste was really nice & even after 10 odd minutes could be chewed. 4/5

Clay oven Paratha - Superb paratha, hot chole, black dal. All in all the best of the lot. 5/5

Total Damages including soft drinks 785/- for 3 people.

Vikash one of the owners was around to make sure things run properly. The staff is young & enthusiastic, with a little more training would do well.

The price is pretty OK but could not understand for the steep difference in prices of a normal paratha vs clay oven.

But shall go back to try out the punjabi & chinese stuff soon.

Kolkata Konnection

Posted in Restaurant; Hotels; Food |

Have been meaning to try this out for a long time. Got an opportunity yesterday. Passing through, stopped for a while. Reading the menu….decided to try out the only thing that makes it strongly Bong for me.

Egg/Chicken Roll - Ordered one. The chicken was heated, the rolls were created fresh from flour & 3 different sauces were put in, before it being handed over. The chicken was succulent, the sauces nice; but tame for me….I need more vinegar chilly…but good enough.

Then got to talking with ATIF the young owner, who says all of them are from Kolkatta & asked me to try out Biryani etc.

However, had to promise him that would order in during the course of the week, he also promised that for a minimum order of 150/- he would deliver to four bungalows.

Before leaving, took some photographs that may not be good since they were from a phone camera.

And noticed one thing that, the delivery boy took a long time to deliver close by; so till the logistics are not worked out, would prefer to eat there (a problem since no space to sit except a couple of stools) or pick it up personally.

Only Rolls & Samosas

Posted in Restaurant; Hotels; Food |

Had seen the painted shop a couple of days ago.

On the way back from the gym, we decided to try it out. Nothing was ready..everything is made once ordered, fresh just like the old times.

Tried the samosa chat - lovely panju samosa with 2 diff types of chatni & onions, veg roll - aloo filling with onions, aamchur a bit of vinegar, egg roll could give bhima rolls a fight.

To top it up, my daughter tried the kulcha - soft yummy with lovely small chana.

Spoke to Pappi’s partner also, who promised that they would keep the same quality.

So have to go back & try out the non veg stuff.
