Aadhar – The identification card introduced by the government of India with a bang, lost steam a while back, with the problems it faced and continued facing.
There were rumours, discussions, debates, news galore about – You need it, you do not need it; It will help, it shall not.
Having faced similar problems many a times, ignored it, till one fine day Neeta Kolhatkar tweeted about how easy it was to get it done.
A couple of messages, calls and I was all set to try it out. Off we went on a working day, wednesday to be precise. The place was near Press Club, Azad Maidan on the 3rd floor. Upon reaching there at 4.30 pm we were the only people and there were two young ladies who turned out to be extremely helpful.
Filled in the forms quickly and we were carrying the following:
Me: Passport, PAN Card, Driving Licence
Wife: PAN card, Driving Licence, Bank Passbook
Daughter: School & College certificate & PAN Card
Job completed, receipt given in less than an hour for all 3 of us. I don’t know if this is the case everywhere, but the process seemed quite seamless, the girls quite knowledgeable – where they had a question, they called up someone and sorted it out.
For those in Mumbai and interested, this is open till 31st May 2013. Go enrol.
