Sampan at Novotel was an old favourite many many moons ago.

One Sunday afternoon last month, a first outing after my illness, we ended up there. I had not visited Sampan in the last 10+ years whilst wife and daughter have visited it number of times in the recent past.

We began with Iced tea for my daughter and veg monchow soup for my wife, tried it and found it excellent. A complimentary bowl of peanuts that are unique to Sampan only were served.

Ordered the chicken dim sum, which turned to be pretty good but the portion is enough for two people. Kung Pao potatoes which were also ordered were excellent, as were the spring rolls, crisp with just enough stuffing, which was followed by Paneer chilly again very good, the quality of paneer was superb. The burnt garlic rice went well with that.

This was polished off with Brownie with vanilla ice cream and hot chocolate sauce and chinese fortune cookies. All in all a memorable meal, what with it being eaten after recovery from serious illness and an adult daughter’s job treat.

Need to visit it again soon.
