Firki – A vegetarian restaurant opened nearly a year and half ago; however given that I have not been visiting Lower Parel during the period, there was no reason to visit.

A week back, some mixup on Thursday led me to Kamla Mills and also double commit to N that we would have dinner together – going back to Date Night on thursday, which for reasons had stopped. Used Zomato to book a table – actually it has become quite convenient and easy to use the App.

N reached early and was pleased with the place and menu; ordered her favourite masala cola.

Reaching soon, N had decided her first order, so quickly ordered two other items on the menu and then the rest of dinner.

Masala Cola – The masala seemed off the shelf, cola flat and no lime (⚡️)

Chokha nu Khichiyu – Very good, in fact better compared to Tosa which is another place that serves it. (⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️)

Dabeli Bruschetta – It was dabeli masala, spread over hard toast to give it a different touch, not fusion or anything. Quite good, but lacked peanuts and the garlicky chutney spread which is a must for Dabeli (⚡️⚡️⚡️)

Vatana ni Kachori (their spelling Watana) – Piping hot, made the North gujarat style (South gujarat has it spicier and garlic added to it) Quite good and a must try. (⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️)

Cleanse the palate so to speak, we ordered the funky

Gastro Pani Puri – Nothing different except the presentation; but I fell in love with the convenience. I hate making and eating pani puri, but always order and trying to fill in the chutney & pani with a spoon is a nightmare and bound to fall/drip. The test tube idea is just perfect, doesn’t spill, east to prepare and in fact made some for N also. 😇  Nice chilled water, decent puri and aloo moong masala. Definitely a try here (⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️)

With this we had reached the finals 🙂 and instead of the Pav Bhaji and other stuff, decided to compare Dal Dhokli and Misal Pav.

Dal Dhokli – Quite Ok, but have eaten better and N’s expert comment was Tosa was better compared to this (⚡️⚡️⚡️)

Misal Pav – Just hankering for misal and decided to go for it. No comparison to any of the maharashtrian misal places. But, better compared to some of the Radhakrishana and others in Bombay. Good thing was using Math, but no spice 🙁 (⚡️⚡️)

The option of dessert was limited that day and N opted for Gulab ke phool ki icecream. I tried it out but am not really an ice cream fan, so felt it was fine, however N said it seems the same supplier as Dakshinayan and couple other south indian places (⚡️⚡️⚡️)
